Lessons of the Trees

The lessons of / for life are all around us if we care to see them. Each species tree has something to teach us as they have all adapted to the environment we all in habit. Living in Florida one finds many palm trees, pine trees, and I had the fortunate child hood of knowing some weeping willows. Palm trees have this tight ball of small roots, long slim trunks, and their leaves bundled on top of the trunk. Palm fronds are esstially leaves with enhanced stems. The Palm tree uses and relies on its not creating a heavy canopy out of branches and leaves coupled with a root system that inter weaves in a manner to create as much friction as possible to with stand storms. Pine trees grow tall with a crown of branches the spread out and typically a long tap root. The pine tree has a "standard" canopy of branches and leaves, however the pine tree has adapted to storms by making its leaves needle like and using a long deep sturdy root to anchor it in the soil. Weeping willows a...

Personal Wheel of the Year

Image
Wheel of the Year seems to be a regular topic for me. In my post on Soul Level Wounds I had expressed the learning of my personal Beltane and Samhain. I want to explore this more. I think it would be more appropriate to say that February 16 is more of a personal Imbolc or the start of a new growth season than Beltane. February 16 is in the range of dates that my fertilized egg could have implanted into my mother's womb. For some reason the need to dig out the planetary alignments also hit me so the following is information from a public free natal chart website . Imbolc is considered to be on February 2 by those who follow the calendar of set dates and at 15 degrees Aquarius for those who follow the planetary alignment. For my purposes of this writing I will be paying attention to the Aquarius, Sun, Moon, and rising information. Aquarius because that is the fixed sign of Imbolc. The Sun, Moon, and rising because of their major impacts on anyone. Rising Sign is in 07 ...

Soul Level Wounds

Image
Picture From:  http://pluspng.com/png-hole-3920.html A while back I had received a massive soul level wound. It was a one-two punch, an adding to an existing wound structure. That it added to the existing structure is probably what made it as horrible as it was. The wound made doing almost everything a debilitating act of machoism. While I can't speak for everyone who has to deal with this, for me, my soul level wound felt like a gaping hole that caught every breeze that went by. By breeze I mean every emotion. Hug some one; agony. Angry for some reason; amplified. It made the inherited need to be around others an act of desperation and only done when desperately needed. I healed. I definitely do not recommend my method of healing. The biggest healing actually happened because of the motorcycle accident I was in on February 16, 2018. Ironically February 16 was also my wedding anniversary; divorced October 25. Hilariously October 25 is now my brother's wedding anniversa...

Ethique Shampoo Bar - Product Review

Click Here to purchase this item and let me make a few pennies from your purchase through Amazon's Affiliate program. In considering the #vanlife you have to start researching ways to achieve the same things you are accustom to in significantly less space. Part of this for me is finding ways to clean myself using less produces. I was already familiar/comfortable with using shampoo for body wash from camping, so I went looking for a solid bar style shampoo. One of the brands I came across is Ethique. I liked the sales pitch and figured I would give it a try. To use the bar it is easiest to wet your hair then rub the bar directly onto your hair in the direction you normally comb it. This will get the needed amount of soap on your hair to get it clean. I tried wetting my hands and suds-ing them up then applying them to my hair, but it just took so many trips between my hair and the bar to get enough soap! I am at about 3 weeks of use now and I can say that my hair and skin ...

Reusable Produce Bags - Product Review

Image
One way we can all participate in the reduce-reuse-recycle mind set is to have reusable produce and other bags. We are all familiar with the reusable grocery bags, pretty much every store has them, but there are also produce bags out there as well. I have tried 2 different types of reusable bag and like them. Click here to get the above pictured bags and let me make a few pennies through Amazon's Affiliate Program These bags are great for items that are not too small as the holes in the mesh are about a quarter inch. They let the veggies breath and dry out if needed. I prefer to use these bags when going to open air fruit stands as the produce there tends to be damp early in the morning. My only complaint was not understanding the sizes until I had them in hand. The X-Large bags can easily fit an entire 5 pounds of potato's. The mediums will fit about 6 apples. Doesn't mean I don't use the bigger bags for items that take up less room, but as a person buying for...

Listen!

Listen. Listen. All the fun variations of the word. We all want to feel like the other person is listening. We all think we are listening. But then ... something happens ... we realize the other or ourselves were not listening. In some cases I have no doubt memory was to blame. After all there is so much we have to remember from day to day and the brain likes to prioritize it's resources. Not to mention something's are just difficult for people to remember. For me it's names and dates. If it wasn't for a daily planner and doggily sticking to writing in things I would end up double, even triple, booking myself. Names, geeze, I can have a 30 minute or more conversation with a person and not know their name, but show me a picture and I will recall all of the other things talked about. Not knowing a name has never bothered me. So what is this Listening, yes with a capital L, thing? According to dictionary.com Listen is to  give   attention   with   the ...

Painful and Messy

Painful and Messy that is Death. We are all dying once we reach physical maturity. Death is always painful, disgusting, and messy. Well whether or not you call it disgusting depends on your definition of the word. The only two questions you have to ask about death is: 1. Over what period of time will the pain and mess be spread over? 2. What type of persons are you going to have around you. There are those who pass slowly over time then you have those who seem to run toward death's embrace. It does not matter which one you are or if you fall some where in between. Death comes for us all. Death is always painful and messy, well until Death claims us fully then the mess and pain leave. The best lessons in life are painful and messy too. So what does Death have to teach us? I could go for the tried and true trite statements about valuing things, but in all honesty why? You know where to find those statements. What is my take? Where do I get off this merry go round? Death i...
