Witches, Pagans, Polythesis, and Christians

There seems to be a big hub bub over Christians being in the Pagan circles and their working witchcraft. Which is rather amusing considering according to the Christian bible they are to "suffer not a witch" amongst them. Either way the topic seemed good fodder for a post, so here it is. I am going to start with defining each term and see where it goes from there. What is a witch and witchcraft? My opinion is that a witch is one who does witchcraft. Kind of logical to me for that to work that way. So what is witchcraft? Again, my opinion is that witchcraft is doing spells, incantations and the like for a particular goal or outcome. These can be simple phrases or elaborate set ups, but the result is belief that be doing so the world can or will be effected. What is a pagan? Well, this is a broad label. There are many who claim this label. For the most part this is someone who does not follow any of the variants of Christainity or the Jewish faith. Pagan is, to use anoth

Pivot Points or Lynch Pins

Image
Whenever something goes wrong, most like to point a finger and assign blame. It is something that could be considered human nature. One thing my dad taught me very young was that if you are going to point a finger, you better address the 3 other fingers from your own hand pointing back at you. This teaching often has me asking how could this have been prevented or avoided? There are rarely any situations that there were not at least 3 points where the out come could have been changed. Sometimes solving those 3 points are easy and sometimes not so much. Mostly it's a game of awareness. As you get better at identifying where things could have been altered, you will notice them as they happen. In truth it is the ability to notice these points where a difference could be made as events unfold that makes or breaks many situations. It is why I call these points Pivot Points or Lynch Pins. When you come to one of these points you often have a choice to make. Sometimes you can pr

Reincarnation

Picture from:  https://www.learning-mind.com/what-could-possibly-await-us-in-the-afterlife/ Every religion out there has some form of an after the body dies idea. A good portion of the after life's out there have the individual going to a bliss or perpetual happy place. What shape that happy place takes depends on the morals or views of the religion or the culture that spawned the religion. Typically those who reach this perpetual happy place in the sky believe that they stay there for eternity. Eternity can be a subjective term too, because when has it not felt like eternity when you are waiting for something while in discomfort? That would imply that perhaps these promises of happy places, are not really promises of happy places? Moving on... Then you have Reincarnation. At its root, and it seems no matter which version, everyone agrees that reincarnation is a living, dying, and being reborn cycle. For the most part everyone also agrees that you don't get to remember

Elemental Placement

The placement of the elements has been one of my favorite debate and beat my head against the wall topics. There are I don't know how many different ways and locations to place the elements in a circle. It seems for each named group there is a new something in the manner in which the elements are handled. One manner of placing the elements I have seen and was taught was with air in the east, fire in the south, water in the west, and earth in the north. Oh my the arguments I would get into on the why. I laugh now, but in reality I do wonder if those who use this set up and insist that it is the "only" or "best" or what ever reason they give do understand why this set up works the way it does. My all time favorite justification for the  air in the east, fire in the south, water in the west, and earth in the north placement was that is how the sun travels through the elements. Which if you actually know anything about the astrological signs and that cycle it
