Ethique Shampoo Bar - Product Review

In considering the #vanlife you have to start researching ways to achieve the same things you are accustom to in significantly less space. Part of this for me is finding ways to clean myself using less produces. I was already familiar/comfortable with using shampoo for body wash from camping, so I went looking for a solid bar style shampoo. One of the brands I came across is Ethique. I liked the sales pitch and figured I would give it a try. To use the bar it is easiest to wet your hair then rub the bar directly onto your hair in the direction you normally comb it. This will get the needed amount of soap on your hair to get it clean. I tried wetting my hands and suds-ing them up then applying them to my hair, but it just took so many trips between my hair and the bar to get enough soap! I am at about 3 weeks of use now and I can say that my hair and skin

Reusable Produce Bags - Product Review

Image
One way we can all participate in the reduce-reuse-recycle mind set is to have reusable produce and other bags. We are all familiar with the reusable grocery bags, pretty much every store has them, but there are also produce bags out there as well. I have tried 2 different types of reusable bag and like them. Click here to get the above pictured bags and let me make a few pennies through Amazon's Affiliate Program These bags are great for items that are not too small as the holes in the mesh are about a quarter inch. They let the veggies breath and dry out if needed. I prefer to use these bags when going to open air fruit stands as the produce there tends to be damp early in the morning. My only complaint was not understanding the sizes until I had them in hand. The X-Large bags can easily fit an entire 5 pounds of potato's. The mediums will fit about 6 apples. Doesn't mean I don't use the bigger bags for items that take up less room, but as a person buying for

Listen!

Listen. Listen. All the fun variations of the word. We all want to feel like the other person is listening. We all think we are listening. But then ... something happens ... we realize the other or ourselves were not listening. In some cases I have no doubt memory was to blame. After all there is so much we have to remember from day to day and the brain likes to prioritize it's resources. Not to mention something's are just difficult for people to remember. For me it's names and dates. If it wasn't for a daily planner and doggily sticking to writing in things I would end up double, even triple, booking myself. Names, geeze, I can have a 30 minute or more conversation with a person and not know their name, but show me a picture and I will recall all of the other things talked about. Not knowing a name has never bothered me. So what is this Listening, yes with a capital L, thing? According to dictionary.com Listen is to  give   attention   with   the   ear

Painful and Messy

Painful and Messy that is Death. We are all dying once we reach physical maturity. Death is always painful, disgusting, and messy. Well whether or not you call it disgusting depends on your definition of the word. The only two questions you have to ask about death is: 1. Over what period of time will the pain and mess be spread over? 2. What type of persons are you going to have around you. There are those who pass slowly over time then you have those who seem to run toward death's embrace. It does not matter which one you are or if you fall some where in between. Death comes for us all. Death is always painful and messy, well until Death claims us fully then the mess and pain leave. The best lessons in life are painful and messy too. So what does Death have to teach us? I could go for the tried and true trite statements about valuing things, but in all honesty why? You know where to find those statements. What is my take? Where do I get off this merry go round? Death i

Just a Fool

Image
From the Deviant Moon Tarot Deck "I'm just a fool for you …" -Unknown In the Tarot the Fool really is something. Never watching out where he is going, barely dodging danger if not landing flat in it. To top it all off, often ill prepared. Reading one of my favorite bloggers John Becket on patheos.com got me triggered naturally. Seems talking, reading, listening about initiation is a great way to get me to follow the Fool in a head long rush of anger, disappointment, and regret. While the magical ties were broken, thank the gods for the motorcycle accident. I will take a physical limitation better than the constant agony of a soul raped wound. Physical limitations can be engineered around in the physical world. Soul level takes daily torment to a whole new level. Idiots. By the way the anniversary of the whole proving that they are truly idiots is the coming full moon. Probably explains the whole sensitivity. Idiots, not just fools. According to dictionary.c

Forgiveness

This morning I read a blog post from Patheos.com on forgiveness it got me to thinking. I readily forgave the person who rear ended me and cause me much suffering, but yet those who bounced me off a door while blind folded I am still pissed off at. WHY? When I took the motorcycle endorsement class they devoted an entire section of the class to the statistics of riding. This biggest statistics covered were injury, permanent disability, and death rates. By the time of my accident I had been riding for close to 8 years. In the eight years I  had been riding I knew many riders who had been hit; seen the injuries, held their hands in the hospital, and the like. I knew the risks. I wore the gear, because I knew it reduced the damage one would incur. In the riding world there are riders who have been down and there are riders who are going to go down. In other words it is an inevitable thing. Yet us crazy people still choose to get on that 2 wheeled contraption of death and mutilation. W

Worship Wheel

I have had this building yearning to create a system of worship beyond what I have been doing. What I have been doing has been rather simple, burn sage morning and night, with an incense stick on the weekend. But my heart is calling for something more. Mostly the method of worship I know is Wiccan. Wiccan and I can work together, but there is much we don't agree on too. While there are some who would just go with Wiccan, because they know it and are familiar, it is just not my way. I have issues, deep rooted ones that have been fed and watered by Wiccans, with calling myself Wiccan. Because of these issues I will not sign my name to back a Wiccan of any stripe; that is part of who I am. Add to it I have recently adopted the Norse Pantheon. The Norse God's and I seem to play well together so far. This maybe my home. The 9 tenants are things I was brought up to revere and have proven worthy of continued following. But the problem is ... I have no clue what regular worship is
