Sovereign Find Out What It Means to Me.

This is a topic that I have been meaning to research for a bit now. In my research I have found that there are a few different ways in which one can be labeled as Sovereign; one of which a person should be careful in using. I have had many an argument with my Teacher and Mentor about the practice of "taking a measure" and it's implication in the initiation rite. Google can give you some examples of initiations that require a measure to be taken, so I am going to save space by not providing them. In all of the rites I have found publicly the ceremony appears more of the BDSM community's taking a slave than bringing forth a individual with more personal sovereignty. Add to it that I highly doubt those who use these types of initiation rites actually teach what a measure is until it is too late (they have the measure in a secure location) and I really do wonder about a great many things about them. Granted, as a person who is inclined to the BDSM slave role, the...

A Life Confident - Actual Intimacy - Attonement

Wow 3 big topics in one, but they do seem to be connected... Intimacy it is a tricky thing. I am not talking about sex, physical intimacy is really not all that complicated in comparison to mental and emotional intimacy. However people will substitute physical intimacy for emotional and mental intimacy. It is actual intimacy that seems to be the glue of those enviable decades long relationships though. There is something about having that assurance that no matter what you are good enough horrible bits and pure bits. Imperfection is defiantly the reason behind my choice in pantheon to worship. The gods are not perfect and it some how makes it ok that I am not as well. It is also in the stories of how each member of the pantheon falls and gets back up that I find inspiration on how to do so in my own life as well. Side Tracked … What is perfection? According to dictionary.com it is the state of being perfect. What if the gods, and by extension myself, are perfect as we are a...

Magic Mushrooms - a closer look

Image
Magic Mushrooms Magic mushrooms are wild or cultivated mushrooms that contain psilocybin, a naturally-occurring psychoactive and hallucinogenic compound. Psilocybin is considered one of the most well-known psychedelics, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administrations. Psilocybin is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning that has a high potential for misuse and has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. [1] What is the Schedule Drugs thing? Drugs, substances, and certain chemicals used to make drugs are classified into five (5) distinct categories or schedules depending upon the drug’s acceptable medical use and the drug’s abuse or dependency potential. The abuse rate is a determinate factor in the scheduling of the drug; for example, Schedule I drugs have a high potential for abuse and the potential to create severe psychological and/or physical dependence. As the drug schedule changes-- Schedule II, Schedule III, etc...

It is all a Preception Game - Pain

Pain and Altered States of Consciousness In magick it is accepted that altering one’s consciousness is needed in order to work with the energy. How much altering is needed and what method is always left up to the practitioner. Some practitioners use pain as a means to alter their consciousness. This writing is a means to briefly study the body’s perception of pain and the consequences of long term pain as well as finally discuss some methods commonly used to alter one’s consciousness using pain. This is by no means a comprehensive study or an endorsement of the use of pain to alter your conscious state. It is strongly encouraged for you to do your own research into the use of pain and safety measures before embarking on this endeavour. Perception of Pain As a psychological state, pain is perceived by the affected individual and it corresponds to a form of conscious awareness as a subjective conscious experience mediated in part by beliefs or emotions. Regardless of its '...

Meditation

Thanks to Buddhists and Yogis Meditation is pretty much a household word. There are very few individuals who are not at least passingly aware of what Meditation is. Meditation provides a rather gentler alternative for those wishing to restore plasticity to their brains. Mindfulness-based therapies have proven their worth in clinical trials for preventing relapse in depression, for example, and have shown promise in treating addiction. Rather than a chemical reboot, meditation and mindfulness dial down the activity of the default mode network by training patients to focus their attention on bodily sensations such as the breath. Over time, this has the effect of diminishing the influence of the top-down models responsible for craving and overly ruminative, self-critical thinking styles. [1] “In Buddhist tradition, the word ‘meditation’ is equivalent to a word like ‘sports’ in the U.S. It’s a family of activities, not a single thing,” University of Wisconsin neuroscience lab dire...

Intoxicants & Altered States of Consciousness

Control is important where an ASC is entered from another ASC. Path-working, visualization and scrying is often more intense, more meaningful, if done in circle. This is because when you start to do the path-working or whatever from a mild ASC instead of your own normal waking state, you tend to go further or deeper, and thus gain more from the exercise. [1] However, using drugs to enter an ASC before performing ritual is a completely different matter. Drugs leave you with no control over the first ASC you enter, so the outcome of entering a second one can be quite different from what you expected. The harder the drug, the bigger the problem is likely to be. A drug might, on a rare occasion, have a place in ritual, but only when the effect of the drug on the person taking it is known, there is a very good reason for its use, and someone else is available to deal with any problems that might arise. Drugs also sap the magical will and discipline by preventing you from learning how t...

Blood and Breath Control in Altering Consciousness

One way to alter your consciousness, change the way you are perceiving the world, is to control the flow of your blood or breath. This can be done through a variety of methods that either increase or decrease the flow. A few topics need to be researched before embarking on the use of blood or breath control to achieve an altered state of consciousness. The following is a taste of the material available and the topics should be completely familiar to all participants prior to attempting. Temporary loss of consciousness A partial or complete loss of consciousness with interruption of awareness of oneself and ones surroundings. When the loss of consciousness is temporary and there is spontaneous recovery, it is referred to as syncope or, in nonmedical quarters, fainting. Syncope accounts for nearly one in every 30 visits to an emergency room. [1] Syncope is due to a temporary reduction in blood flow and therefore a shortage of oxygen to the brain. This leads to lightheadednes...
