Drawing Down or Charging

There are is variety of "Drawing Down" that you can do. You can "Draw Down" the sun, moon, god(dess). The act is essentially the invoking of some larger spiritual essence into a vessel. This can be accomplished in a few ways and varies depending on what vessel is being used.

*** Generally speaking when someone says Drawing Down they are referring to Drawing Down the Moon. This is when a Female invokes the Goddess and is considered to be a beautiful thing resulting in various "boons".

Personally, I group "Charging" and "Drawing Down" together, because you are moving energy in a very similar manner. In both cases you are adding or changing a vessel's energy structure to suit a purpose. This is done through the various types of magic; projective, subtractive, sympathetic and contagious. Projective Magic is any time energy is raised and sent out no matter the reason. Subtractive Magic is when something is taken away. Sympathetic magic is also referred to as imitative magic. Contagious magic is based on the principle that things or persons once in contact can afterward influence each other.

In learning to "Draw Down" I have found that many haven't a clue as how to do so, or they are VERY closed mouth. But the reality is that the biggest difference between "Drawing Down" and "Charging" is the vessel being human more often than not in "Drawing Down."

So how does one do this?

The vessel has to be prepared. This is normally done by performing some type of cleaning and anointing. Otherwise known as Subtractive Magic.

Then the entity is invoked or asked to inhabit or bless the vessel. This typically involves the use of items that are a part of Sympathetic magic or imitate the entity being called and by having them in contact with the vessel in a prescribed manner (or not) cause a Contagious magic transference to the vessel.

In simple speak using the 7 Chakra Reiki model, start by clearing the root chakra, work your way up to the crown chakra and then reach a little beyond to open the way for the divine to come in. This requires the vessel to be in a trance state so that the active mind is not active and there is room for the called entity to have a foot hold. Unless it is some of the more forceful less caring about free will entities, but that is a whole other thing.

In order for two individuals to work in this manner there has to be a rather large amount of trust, as the entity being called may have particular ideas as to what it wants to do and those ideas may run counter to the vessel's consent levels. It also requires a particular level of trust as the event may cause unpleasant memories to surface before, during, or after that would cause the experience to be not unlike a "bad trip" in which knowing how to handle the vessel's reactions is key. Fear of a "bad trip" will also cause the "Drawing Down" to not happen.

In speaking with cis males, I have found that the final reaching for the divine to allow it into the vessel feels similar to the breaking of the hymen in females. However in my experience in working with males it is more like a well spring from below or sometimes a geyser.
